Back by popular demand, we're happy to offer this reprint edition of a classic!

Uncommon Fathers is one of the first books written for fathers by fathers of children with developmental disabilities. The contributors are from diverse professional, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Their children--preschoolers to adults--have a wide range of disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, hearing loss, and mental retardation. These men offer a seldom-heard perspective on being a father and raising a child with special needs.

In these candid essays, fathers convey their feeling of pride, rage, humor, and deep love for their children. They provide insight about the impact of life with a child with a disability and reveal their hopes for their child's future.

Partners, families, and friends of children with disabilities will appreciate these fathers' depictions of the unique joys and challenges of raising a child with a disabilty. Service providers, policy makers, and anyone with an interest in ensuring that fathers' concerns are addressed will find Uncommon Fathers informative and compelling reading.

Pair this book with one written by mothers for mothers: More Than a Mom: Living a Full and Balanced Life When Your Child Has Special Needs
